Cayce Murphy

Un poco sobre mí...

Cayce Murphy, soprano, is an up and coming young Appalachian artist recognized for her versatility in multiple styles of performance, captivating stage presence, and expressive sensibility.

Recent operatic credits include Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Laurette (Le Docteur Miracle) with the University of Memphis Opera, and partial roles through scenes programs Helena (A Midsummer Night's Dream), Clara (Porgy and Bess), and Matilda (Elisabetta, regina d’Inghilterra) as a young artist through Accademia Vocale Lorenzo Malfatti, a program based in Lucca, Italy.

Recent concert credits, both as a soloist and chorister, include Whitacre's The Sacred Veil with contemporary choral octet VONE: Voices of the New Era in which she also serves as the social media manager (Huntington, West Virginia), Brubeck's To Hope: The MassVerdi's Requiem, Ave Maria, Stabat Mater, Mozart's Requiem, Lauridsen's Lux Aeterna, and Higdon's Singing Rooms/Ruminations with Rhodes Mastersingers Chorale (Memphis, Tennessee) under the direction of Dr. William Skoog. She also was a soprano soloist for the Beethoven Choral Fantasy with the University of Memphis Orchestra and Chamber Choir for the grand opening of the Scheidt Family Performing Arts Center, as well as featured ensemble for Renee Fleming's Memphis debut concert at the Cannon Center of the Performing Arts with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Robert Moody

She also presented her graduate degree recital in November 2023, featuring pianist Dr. Alex Benford and violinist Bianca Balderama, highlighting the works of composers such as Bach, Mozart, Debussy, Rodrigo, and Whitacre.

Recent musical theater credits include Alban Arts Center debut as Deloris van Cartier (Sister Act), featured ensemble with Broadway stars Loren Allred and Telly Leung for The Music of Modern Broadway concert at the Cannon Center of the Performing Arts with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Robert Moody, and soloist for the premiere of Who Says We Cant? A New Musical Works Cabaret, composed by Spencer Germany and Daniel Ward, at Beethoven Club Memphis.

Cayce is making her music directorial debut at the Alban Arts Center in July and August 2025 for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

Cayce graduated with her Master of Music in Voice Performance from the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music (University of Memphis) in May 2024, having studied with Professor Mary Wilson, soprano. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Vocal Performance and Bachelor of Arts in Music Education (K-12) from Marshall University, located in Huntington, West Virginia where she studied with Dr. Alexander Lee, tenor.

 

She currently holds the position of chorus and general music teacher at Hayes Middle School, and has prior experience private voice lessons. More information about Cayce's background in education can be found in the Teaching section of her website.
